Using the Agilent E7071B VNA
Documents
The Bucknell ECE department owns a number of pieces of RF test and measurement equipment. This includes:
Agilent E5071B Vector Network Analyzer (VNA)
Agilent Spectrum Analyzer with Tracking Generator
Agilent RF Signal Generator
Agilent Vector Signal Generator
What is a Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) ?
VNAs are used to characterize and test component specifications and verify designed component interoperability. A VNA differs from a spectrum analyzer because it contains both a stimulus and receivers. A spectrum analyzer only contains receivers and therefore limits the type of testing that can be performed. One of the more common uses for VNAs is measuring S-parameters. (S11, S21, S12, S22).
Where can I Find Additional Resources About VNAs?
More information can be found in the attached documents, which also includes the users guide for the instrument. The guide from TeKtronix provides background information about how VNAs work.
