Introduction

This guide is an introductory guide into using the Fusion3 EDGE printer located in ACET 237

  1. This tutorial is set up to be an introductory tutorial for use of the Fusion3 Edge printer To begin, Login using the credentials at the top of the screen next to the Fusion3 EDGE printer Open slicing software named "F3Slic3r"

  2. add object in the form of a stl file you intend to print by selecting the square+ icon Verify that the printer selected is a F3 EDGE 0.4

  3. Verify the build plate within the 3D printer is the "MatterHackers LAYERLOCK" PEI sheet Verify the type of filament loaded in printer currently is "ABS 1.75 Gizmo Dorks". If another type of filament is desired, please ask lab director for further instructions Verify the type of filament selected within the slicer software is "ABS_0.4_Standard"

  4. Manipulate objects position, scaling, orientation and support material using the icons as indicated in the attached image according to expected print outcomes.

    • If there are further questions about object manipulation, you can refer to Prusaslicer documentation or contact the lab director

  5. After the object has the desired position, settings, and so forth, select the gray "Slice now" button on the bottom right of the window Verify that the sliced file will be printed with the support material and so forth. After satisfied with sliced file, select the G button on the bottom right of the window.

    • Select "Upload and Print"

  6. Print will start after heating bed which will take some time. It is required to check on print after the printing has begun and first layer is printing as expected

    • It is required to check on the print every 2 hours or less. If monitoring the printer periodically does not happen, the warranty could be voided. Ask the lab director for access to the live video feed if necessary

  7. It is also required to turn on the snorkels within the lab allowing for proper ventilation which is necessary while printing ABS. The switch can be found in the back of the room next to the band saw.
